No Link on User Profile

I installed the module but have no link on user profile's to send them a message. Is this correct functionality?

Please use either 1.x-dev or i.0-rc3 of the module, not 2.x-dev as the latter is massively outdated.
To answer the question, there should be a link near the bottom of the profile page with some clickable text allowing you to send a message if you have permission to send to that individual.

Use the rc3 release. If you have permission to send message then you will see the link. check your user permissions page.
